Math is more than doing worksheets. In an effective math classroom, students are problem-solvers who can defend their strategies. Students explore new ways of approaching problems and collaborate with their peers. I want my math classroom to be one based on active discourse, perseverance, and curiosity.

About Miss Zaino's Classroom Starter List
- Personal whiteboards
- Fake money
- Colored paper (for printing application problems on)
Some of the things on my list are tools for me to use when teaching. I’ve listed some examples below.
- Poster board (for making anchor charts)
- Paper cutter
- Yardstick (for making anchor charts)
- Slideshow clicker
- Miniature whiteboard (for working with small groups)
Other items are supplies that help keep the class organized. These tools include the following:
- Storage containers
- File folder bins
- Paper trays
- Table caddies
- Book Bins
My list also contains many math books. Books are an excellent way to introduce new concepts to a class. They are also a great tool for students to explore ideas on their own. Some of the books on my list are as follows:

- A Fraction’s Goal
- Parts of a Whole
- The Action of Subtraction

Thanks for your support in helping me educate my students!
